What instruments do you play?

I play a wide variety of instruments. Saxophone is my primary instrument and the one that I perform the most on. I do also play flute and clarinet at a semi-professional level. My first instrument was the piano and continue to play it to this day.

What sort of music do you play or have played in the past?

When I realized that the Alto Saxophone was my primary instrument, I played a lot of classic jazz; Charlie Parker, Cannonball Adderly, Art Pepper, etc. Once I picked up the Tenor Sax, I was blown away by how much saxophone music there was outside of jazz. I still listen and play the giants like Coltrane, Shorter and Rollins, but had a lot of fun in College playing in a Tower of Power tribute band, and learning and transcribing Snarky Puppy melodies and solos.

What model of instrument do you use? What type of reed are you most comfortable with?

Alto saxophone is a Selmer Series II with a Meyer Rubber 6M and Red Java Jazz reeds (3). Tenor Saxophone is a Yamaha 475 with an Otto Link 6* and blue box Vandoren reeds (3).

Do you teach private lessons? Will you teach me?

I do! As of right now, I teach privately at the Long & McQuade lesson center in Brampton, Ontario, in addition to my home studio. I would love to try. Send me an e-mail and I’ll look to see what’s available!
